The Hundred Hornets’ Katherine Henderson won the long and high jump, while the Eagles’ Mady Winters and Kyndra Pilant won the shot and discus, respectively, to lead Hundred and the Magnolia teams in the Region I Girls Track Championships May 11 at Ritchie County High School

The Lady Eagles finished the championship in third place with 92 points, with Wheeling Central gaining the win with 101 points, while Tyler garnered 54 points, Paden City, 24 points; Hundred, 29 points; and Valley, 10 points.

In the field events, Henderson (16-01.25) beat out the Knights’ Joralda Rice (15-2.50) third and the ‘Jills Sophie Palmer (14-06) fourth. All all qualified for state. Magnolia’s Leneica Grimm (13-10.50) scored and finished sixth. Henderson (5-0) also won the high jump, while Palmer (4-11) was second. Emily Metz (4-10) scored and finished fourth.

Winters (35-3) won the shot put, while Pilant (34-5) was third. Pilant (103.9) won the discus, while Winters (90-6) qualified, finished fourth. Henderson scored for Hundred (78-3) and finished sixth.

In the running events, the Lady Wildcats’ Abbe Stackpole (12.78) was second in the 100 meter dash, while the Eagles’ Nicole Turner (14.05) was sixth. Stackpole (27.37) also finished third in the 200 meter dash. Magnolia’s Kennedy Parsons (1:03.42) finished second in the 400 meter dash, while Metz (1:10.81) scored, placed fifth. Metz (2:46.87) also scored in the 800 meter run, placed fifth, while Katie Pratt (2:43.87) was fourth for Tyler Consolidated.

Aubrey Hall (6:12.92) and Blue Eagle teammate Karina Patel (6:19.41) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 1,600 meter run, while the Knights Jahnvi Duncan (6:06.37) finished fourth. The Knights’ Abi Thompson (6:01.72) qualified for state, took home second. Patel (13:13.68) and Hall (13:43.06) placed second and third, respectively, in the 3,200 meter run and both qualified for state.

In the 100 meter hurdles, the ‘Jills Sophie Palmer (17.56) was second, and the Eagles’ Liza Clegg (17.94) finished third; the Lady Knights’ Rachel Hashman (18.10) finished fourth. These three all qualified for state. Tyler’s Rachel Thomas (18.57) scored and finished fifth. In the 300 meter hurdles, Clegg (52.29) finished second, and teammate Leneica Grimm (52.70) finished third.

In the relay events, the Paden City foursome of Abbe Stackpole, Destiny Duncan, Destiny Harrison and Mallory Yeater (55.08) qualified for state with a third place finish in the 4×100 relay. The Magnolia team of Mikalyn Renner, Nicole Turner, Olivia Mensore and Kennedy Parsons (56.03) scored, finished sixth.

The Paden City girls 4×200 relay team (1:57.89) of Stackpole, Duncan, Harrison and Yeater, as well as the Blue Eagle girls of Liza Clegg, Renner, Leneica Grimm and Parsons (1:59.28) each qualified for state with a fourth and fifth place finish, respectively. The Lady Knights (2:08.47) scored, finished sixth.

The Magnolia 4×400 relay team of Olivia Mensore, Renner, Aubrey Hall, and Parsons (4:43.63), along with the Tyler Consolidated team of Eden Turner, Katie Pratt, Demery Nelson, and Rachel Thomas (4.51.68) each qualified for state with a fourth and sixth place finish, respectively.

In the shuttle relay event, Tyler (1:12.91) was first, while the Magnolia team of Alyssa Kocher, Renner, Grimm and Clegg (1:14.13) came in second – both qualified for state this Friday and Saturday.
