Wildcats Keeping Busy

Paden City played a double header April 21 at home against Clarksburg Notre Dame. After sweeping Friday night’s double header against Jefferson County Christian, the Wildcats were looking to make four victories in a row. It wasn’t meant to be as the Fighting Irish took both games, setting the Wildcats’ record to 10-12.

Game one saw Paden City take a 2-0 lead in the first inning with Hannah Loy and Jenna Ferrebee both crossing the plate; however, the visitors plated four runs in the next three innings, making the score 4-2 heading into the fifth.

The Wildcats added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game, but Clarksburg crossed the plate five times in the top of the seventh to get the 9-5 win.

Leading the way for Paden City was Aubrey Neff, who smacked one over the fence for an RBI while scoring two runs. Jenna Ferrebee also knocked in a run with a double, while Katrina Heasley drove in a run with a single.

Hannah Loy went 2-3 from the plate, getting two singles, and Erin McIntrye had a single on four at bats. Hope Cooper also got a single. The Wildcats had seven hits in the game, walked five times, and struck-out 13 times.

Notre Dame scored its nine runs on nine hits while walking eight times and striking out six. Erin McIntrye took the loss on the mound for Paden City.


Game two saw the Wildcats score all of their runs in the first inning; they couldn’t hold on as the Fighting Irish got three runs in the third and three in the fourth, en route to an 8-4 win.

Caitlin Stewart took the loss for the Wildcats, working five innings. Leading the way at the plate for Paden City was Aubrey Neff, who added a two run homer – her second of the day. Hannah Loy went 2-4 with a single and a double. Delaney Lantz had two hits in three attempts and scored a run.

Katrina Heasley scored a run and added a single. Hope Cooper drove in two runs with a hard hit single and Jenna Ferrebee got a single on 1-3 bats.

The Wildcats had eight hits and struck out 11 times. Notre Dame only had five hits but walked seven times while only striking out three times.


Wildcats Crush Jefferson County

Paden City swept a pair of game from visiting Jefferson Co. Christian on Friday night, upping their record to 9-10 while heading down the stretch toward sectionals.

In the first game of the evening, the Wildcats set the tone from the start as they crossed the plate seven times in the bottom of the first inning, after setting down the first three batters from up the river. The Wildcats took a 7-0 lead on their way to the 12-2 victory.

Erin McIntyre got the win for Paden City who allowed the visitors only one hit in the game. Hannah Loy went 2-2 from the plate with two doubles and two RBIs, while scoring a run. Jenna Ferrebee scored three times and hit a double, walked, and got on base by a hit pitch.

Delainey Lantz had a good game – drilling a single, scoring twice and knocking in two runs. She also got on by a hit pitch. Aubrey Neff was 1-2; she scored two runs and was hit by a pitch. Katrina Heasley got an RBI on a single and also scored a run.

Caitlin Stewart got an RBI single in two at bats. Ashlyn Moses went 1-2 with a single, drove in a run, and scored. Madison Knight went 1-1, knocking in a run on a hard hit single.

In their second game of the evening, the Wildcats never let up as they shut-out the visitors, 10-0, in three innings. Caitlin Stewart worked the mound, picking up the win for the Wildcats and giving up just one hit over three innings – while striking out three and walking one.

The Wildcats poured on the blows in the second inning, getting eight runs. The Wildcats added two more in the third to get the mercy-rule win. Hannah Loy had the big bat, going 3-3 from the plate with two doubles, a single and four runs batted in, while scoring a run. Erin McIntyre got a single in 1-2 at bats and drove in two runs.

Aubrey Neff clobbered one over the fence for a two-run shot in the second. Delaney Lantz hit a run scoring double. Hope Cooper went 1-1 with a single and walked, plus scored two runs. Paden City finished with eight hits to get the win and even their record at 10-10 on the year.


Paden City Splits DH With Ravenswood

Paden City scored 31 runs on 32 hits in splitting a double header with the Ravenswood Red Devilettes April 14 at Ravenswood High School Ball Field.

In the opener, it went down to the wire with the Red Devilettes scoring seven runs in the last two innings. Ravenswood defeated the Wildcats, 12-11.

The Devilettes took a 1-0 lead with Kendall Bowen drilling her first of two home runs.

The Paden City Wildcats fought back to take the lead when Delaney Lantz opened the second with a lead-off single. Katrina Heasley singled Lantz to third. Heasley stole second, and Lantz scored on a Hope Cooper groundout. Heasley scored on a wild pitch to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Paden City increased its advantage to 4-1, scoring twice in the top of the third when Erin McIntyre led-off the third with a single. Jenna Ferrebee belted a one-out base-hit, sending McIntyre to third. Ferrebee later stole second, and both scored on a Lantz single.

However, Ravenswood matched the Wildcats’ two runs to close the gap to 4-3, heading into the fourth. Both teams scored twice in the fourth, while the Wildcats added a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth to grab a 10-5 lead. Ravenswood would score five runs in the bottom half to tie things up at 10-10, heading into the seventh.

The Wildcats scored a run in the top of the seventh when Ashlyn Moses walked for the third time, stole second, and scored the go-ahead run on a Loy triple. The Red Devilettes tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom half to get the win, 12-11.

Heasley paced the Wildcats with three base-hits, two steals and knocked in a run, while Aubrey Neff doubled and tripled and knocked in four runs. McIntyre singled and doubled, stole two, and scored three times.

In addition, Loy tripled home a run, scored twice, and stole a base. Lantz singled twice and plated two, while Ferrebee and Caitlyn Stewart each singled. Moses walked four times. Jenna Arnett stole four bases, and Cooper added an RBI.


Paden City 20, Ravenswood 7

Six Paden City players had multiple hits – McIntyre, Neff and Ferrebee each had three – to lead Paden City to a 20-7 win in a mercy-rule shortened game against the Red Devilettes. The game was the night-cap of Paden City and Ravenswood’s double header.

Paden City scored three runs in the third, seven in the fifth and nine in the sixth as the big innings.

Neff was a home-run shy of hitting for the cycle, while McIntyre doubled and singled twice. Ferrebee doubled and singled twice.

Loy singled and belted a two-run home-run, while Cooper singled and doubled. Moses and Stewart each singled twice, while Heasley added a triple, and Lantz an RBI single. Jenna Arnett stole four bases with every starter getting at least one hit.

Stewart picked up the win from the mound, struck-out four.
