Hurdlers Strong For River

The Pilots’ Cooper Brown and Alex Refener, as well as Carman Hinerman in the girls, each earned first place finishes in the Ohio Valley Track League in Shadyside April 10 to help the River boys and girls teams take fourth and fifth, respectively.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Hinerman blew away everyone to take first at (17.0), while the team of Livi Beard, Allison Bennett, Emily Taylor and Julianna Taylor (12:00) finished in third place in the 4×800 meter relay.

In the boys 110-meter hurdles, Refener (18.7) finished fifth, while Daniel Sweguard (12.67) was sixth in the 100-meter dash.

In the girls 4×200-meter girls relay, Emily Taylor, Hinerman, Julianna Taylor and Alli Long placed third at (2:20), as well as the boys 4×200-meter relay team of Ethan Goudy, Sweguard, Michael Johnson and Cole Hinerman (1:45).

In the 4×100-meter relay event, the girls team of Lacy Speece, Alli Long, Kim Connors and Cortny Sapp (1:03.18) was fourth, while the boys team of Goudy, Sweguard, Neiko Mancini and Cole Hinerman (50.67) was fifth.

Cooper Brown (52.37) won the boys 400-meter dash, while Carmen Hinerman (52.63) won the girls 300-meter hurdles. Alex Refener (46.22) won the boys 300-meter hurdles, while Livi Beard (2:38) was third in the 800-meter run. Cooper Brown (23.95) was second in the 3,200-meter dash, while Beard (12:11) finished runner-up in the 3,200-meter run.

Cole Hinerman (5-0) was fifth in the boys high jump, while Cortny Sapp (13-0) was sixth in the girls long jump. Cooper VanCamp (16-4) was fourth in the boys long jump. Allison Bennett (65-5) was sixth in the girls discus throw, while Madison Shiflett (24-2) was fourth in the girls shot put.
