Hornets’ Boys, Girls Fourth at MDC

Hundred sprinter Katherine Henderson and Paden City’s Abbe Stackpole are neck and neck in their race.

The Hundred Hornets boys finished in fourth place at the Mason-Dixon Track Championships at Clay-Battelle Track Complex April 13, while Clay-Battelle was first with 184 points and Cameron second with 120 points. Paden City finished fifth and Valley sixth.

The Hornets’ Cody Soles placed third in the 200-meter dash (25.03), while Alex McCoy (26.38) of Paden City finished in fifth place. Also, Hundred’s Skylar Goff (12.86) placed fourth in the 100-meter dash. Goff (1:00.26) also placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, while teammate Billy Lemasters (1:05.86) finished sixth.

The Hornets’ Martin Baker (2:21.30) crossed the finish line in second place in the 800-meter run, while Kyler Wade (5:46.33) of Paden City placed in sixth place. Kyler Wade (5:46.33) of Paden City placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run, while teammate Landon Smith (48.37) was third in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Paden City foursome of Seth Bohrer, Alex McCoy, Landon Smith and Stephen Smith was third in the 4×110 meter shuttle relay in (53.16), while the same guys finished runner-up to Cameron (1:37.48) with a solid time of (1:08.21).

Also in the 4×200 meter relay, the Hundred foursome of Cody Soles, Martin Baker, Skylar Goff and Billy Lemasters (1:45.98) finished runner-up to Cameron (1:37.48) in the 4×200 meter relay.

The Hornets’ Emily Metz is cruising to a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash.

In the boys long jump (18-5), the Lumberjacks’ Peyton Bassett (17-4.25) finished second, while the Hornets Skylar Goff (16-4) and Cody Soles (16-2) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Seth Bohrer (16-0) of Paden City was sixth. Bassett (37-2) also was second in the shot put (38-11.75), while Lumberjack teammate Levi Rux (36-04) was third. The Wildcats’ Jason Anderson (35-8) was fourth, while Travis McCoy (33-06) of Hundred placed sixth.

In the discus, (106-11) Jason Anderson (88-10) of Paden City was third, while the ‘Jacks Levi Rux (86-05) finished fourth.

Metz and Henderson Lead Hornet Girls To Fourth Place Finish

Hundred’s Emily Metz (1:09.49) and Katherine Henderson (4-10) took first place in the 400-meter run and the high jump, respectively, to lead Hundred to a fourth place finish in the women’s Mason-Dixon championship, with Valley finishing sixth and Paden City seventh. Clay-Battelle won with 155 points, while Cameron was second with 85 points.

Hundred Hornet Destiny Eastham (1:17.48) placed fifth in the 400-meter dash, while the ‘Jills Sophie Palmer (4-8) and the Hornets’ Emily Metz (4-8) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the high jump.

Henderson (15-0) finished second, while Palmer (14-1.75) and McKinlee Yoho (121.75) from Valley were third and fourth place, respectively, in the long jump. Palmer (18.07) was second and VHS teammate Kendall Williams (20.18) placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles. Henderson (30.16) was second in the 200-meter dash, while teammate Metz (30.24) was fifth in the 200-meter dash.

Abbe Stackpole (13.22) was runner-up in the 100-meter dash, while Henderson (14.23) finished fifth. Eastham (3:09.40) was fourth in the 800-meter run, while the ‘Jills Emma Beatty (7:47.97) placed third in the 1,600 meter run.

Hundred’s team of Chalea Cottrill, Eastham, Metz and Maggie McGill was fourth in the 4×100 meter relay, while the ‘Jills Brittany Kennedy (27-10.25) was fourth in the shot put, and second in the discus.
