Magnolia Earns Season Sweep Vs. Paden City

Magnolia center-turned-point-guard Leo Herrick scored 28 points Jan. 30, leading Magnolia to a 72-55 victory over Paden City.

The setting for the game – the Magnolia Hammer-Dome – got its name honestly that night as both teams combined for 48 fouls and countless players fouled out in a game that lasted one hour and 40 minutes.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 16-7 first quarter lead and bumped it up to 36-26 at the break. Magnolia led 55-41 entering the final period of play.

Herrick topped all scorers with 27 points, including 6-6 from the free throw line. Magnolia was 23-32 from the floor from the charity stripe. Marco Smith followed with 16 points, including a pair of triples. Devin Shimp scored a career-high 13 points.

Garrett Babe tallied eight points, including none from long-range, while Silas McKeever, and Eli Nice each scored three points, and Dalton Pritchard, a deuce.

Ethan Cross scored 20 points, that included four three-balls, while Trey Slider followed with a dozen, that included a basket from beyond the arc. Matt Saxson tallied 10 points, that included a pair of three-point baskets, while Garrett Cross and Seth Bohrer tallied seven and five points, respectively. Nicholas Clarke sank a freebie at the charity stripe for all the Paden City scoring.
