Isaly Is Athlete Of The Week
The River Pilots’ Lukas Isaly is this week’s Athlete of the Week for the Wetzel Chronicle.
Isaly outscored the Shenandoah Zeps, 32-31, including one basket from beyond the arc. Isaly swished in all nine free throw attempts. Isaly also scored 27-points, that included four baskets from beyond the arch. He also had 11 assists to give him a double-double in the victory over Bridgeport, helping the Pilots keep their undefeated season unblemished..
Valley’s Levi Streets and Paden City’s Hannah Loy have each earned Special Mention.
Streets led five double-digit Valley scorers with 21 points, that included a trio of three-pointers. He further hauled in 10 rebounds in a win over Paden City, while adding 21 points in a loss to Cameron.
Loy recorded a team-high 17 points, and earned her double-double with 15 rebounds against a very good Ritchie County squad.
The Valley Lumberjills’ Jenna Dallison also had a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while blocking a shot in Valley’s loss to Ritchie County.
She earned Honorable Mention for those efforts, as did the Wildcats’ Garrett Cross who led all-Paden City scorers with 17 points in a loss to the Valley Lumberjacks.
Also earning Honorable Mention was Magnolia’s Garrett Babe, who scored 13 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc. This helped propel the Eagles over Ritchie County. Honorable Mention also goes to the Lady Pilots’ Lauten Flannery who scored a game-high 14-points in limited action in a win over Bridgeport.
During the winter season, only high schools teams from Hundred, Magnolia, Paden City, River and Valley are eligible to win, and the winners can’t win again until sectionals, as well as OVAC and Mason-Dixon, and H.I.T. Tournament.
