Third Quarter Lifts Blue Devils Over Hornets

The Beallsville Blue Devils outscored the Hundred Hornets, 19-1, in the third period, breaking up a close game and beating Hundred, 69-50, in boys basketball action, on Dec. 22 in Beallsville territory.

The Blue Devils jumped out to a 23-17 advantage after eight minutes of play, and held only a 39-30 halftime lead before breaking away with a 19-1 run in the third period.

However, the never say-die Hornets used a 19-11 run in the fourth period to make the game respectable.

Travis “Double-Double” McCoy mustered yet another double-double – 19-points and 12 rebounds – to pace the Hornets, while Cody Soles stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and making three steals.

In addition, Logan Norris tallied seven points, while hauling in four rebounds and making a pair of steals. Skylar Goff posted four points, three rebounds, and making two steals, while Bobby Hostutler and Billy LeMasters each made a deuce, and Adam Stephens sank a free throw.

W. Brown and D. Phillips tallied 20-points and 17 points, respectively, to lead the Blue Devils.

The Hundred Hornets hosted West Greene on Dec. 29, and will host Clay-Battelle on Jan. 5.
