Magnolia, Paden City Cheer at Regionals

The Paden City Wildcats earned fifth place at the 2017 WVSSAC Region I cheerleading competition.

Magnolia and Paden City cheerleaders earned fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the 2017 WVSSAC Region I cheerleading competition on Nov. 4 at East Fairmont High School.

Wheeling Central had a few problems, but rose to the top to nip Cameron for the Region I championship, while Weirton Madonna finished third. Ritchie County finished sixth and St. Marys seventh. Valley, Hundred and Tyler Consolidated didn’t field a squad this year.

The Eagles, who did very well in the OVAC last season, competed very well, but had a small fall that hurt their chances. The Wildcats had a perfect routine, but didn’t have the “Wow” factor the judges were looking for in a routine. The ‘Cats placed a close fifth.

Magnolia first year Head Coach Kayla Adams added, “I’m very excited to be back at Magnolia, coaching the sport that’s near and dear to me. Having such a wonderful group of girls makes it that much better.”

Adams continued, “These girls have worked so hard and have so much dedication to their team. Between balancing sports and school, their passion for cheerleading never decreases. They’re a driven team, and I’m so proud of all of them and everything they’ve accomplished so far this year.
