Hornets Buzz Through Volleyball Season
The Hundred Hornets have had a tough time this volleyball season, as they have a limited number on the team. Members include Emily Metz, Katherine Henderson, Lexi Bragg, Savannah Horner, Savannah Bragg, Madison Fetty and Kayla Matthews.
In a recent match with Trinity, the Hornets stayed right with Trinity before falling late in the first set, then losing 15-25 and 8-25 in the final set in a match at Valley. Horner and Metz paced the Hornets with seven and six points, including an ace respectively, while L. Bragg, Henderson, and Fetty each tacked on three points each, and Matthews one point.
Henderson belted two kills, while Hornet blasted one. Henderson also made eight digs, while the rest of the team each made three digs.
In the match with Valley, the ‘Jills took both sets to win the match, 11-25 and 18-25. Henderson compiled 16 digs, and scored four points, including one ace, while Metz made nine points, with five service aces, bumped up four digs. L. Bragg and Horner each tallied six markers, while Matthews and Fetty each tallied two points. In a match with St Marys, the Lady Hornets lost 25-21, 25-8 and 25-9, but played very well as Henderson paced the team with nine points, including three aces, while Metz and Fetty each scored eight points. Bragg and Horner each penciled in five points, while Matthews added three points. Henderson, added 11 digs, while L. Bragg and Metz each made nine digs.
The Lady Hornets stumbled a bit against Cameron, as the Lady Dragons won, 25-4 and 25-8. L. Bragg, Metz, Henderson and Fetty each scored twice, while Matthews, Horner and S. Bragg each netted one point. Henderson compiled eight digs, while Metz and Horner each had six, and L. Bragg and Fetty each had six digs.
Hundred lost their second bout with Valley, losing 25-11 and 25-18, with Metz leading the charge with nine points. L. Bragg and Horner each netted six points, and Henderson four points. Matthews and Fetty both tallied two points, while Henderson leading the way with 16 digs.
Metz was the team’s top scorer with 25-points, while Henderson and Horner each scored 19 points, and L. Bragg, 16 points. Henderson bumped up 54 digs, while L. Bragg and Metz made 31 and 28, respectively.
