Hornets Lose to Hannan
Logan Norris of Hundred passed for 93-yards, while gaining 62-yards on the ground, but it wasn’t quite enough to get past Hannan, 41-0, on Sept. 16 at Clay-Battelle High School.
Norris hit Skylar Goff, Andrerw Zedell, Mark Baker and Bryce Bartrug for 11 passes, with Goff, Zedell and Norris doing the bulk of the running.
Defensively, Andy Howell had a big night with eight tackles, while Zedell and Brandon Rine equally-tackled a dozen Wildcat runners. The Hornet defense caused three fumbles and picked off a Hornet pass attempt.
The Wildcats shot themselves in the foot with turnovers and costly penalties that hurt their chances when they got on the Wildcats side of the field.
“We are still learning, but I believe that some of these guys will make a difference in the next couple of games,” said HHS Head Coach Shayne Minor. “The boys are now catching passes they haven’t caught before, and our backs are finding holes and learning to follow their blockers.
“We are learning to read our blocks, and these kids are learning more each game. I hope it continues this way the rest of the season, and the kids bring back their knowledge learned, and continue to play like we know that they can.”
The Hornets will look to get that first win against another winless team in Paden City in this year’s Backyard-Brawl, Friday, Sept. 22 at Clay-Battele High School with kick-off scheduled at 7 p.m.
