The Sports Spotlight Shines on Levi Streets
With fall season quickly approaching, the Lumberjacks’ Levi Streets can’t wait to get with the program. After finishing off a great second half of football, Streets is itching to get the football season underway.
After first-year head coach Logan Miller had his starting running-back go down early in the season, and his prize quarterback – Tyler Kocher – follow suit midway through the season, Coach Miller dialed up Streets to do a little of both running and quarterbacking.
He did an exceptional job, and he is ready to show the Ohio Valley it was no fluke. He wants to get back at it as soon as he possibly can. In the second half of the season, Streets put up some amazing numbers. He rushed for 752 yards and scored five TDs, while adding two more scores through the air in the first half of the season.
He also was the Lumberjacks’ starting point guard on the basketball team. He has been lifting all summer and has been working his tail off in getting ready for the upcoming football season. The Wetzel Chronicle asked him about the same questions that it has asked other spotlight athletes. Here’s what Streets had to say:
What do you want people know about you, that most people didn’t know? I want people to know that I shoot basketball every night from around midnight until about 3 a.m.
What is your favorite movie you have seen? My Favorite Movie is “Coach Carter.”
What your favorite book, and what is your favorite class? My Favorite Book is “The Outsiders” and my favorite class would be Math.
If you could go back in time, who would you want to hang out with? If I could go back in time and hang out with anyone in the world, that person would have to be Michael Jordan in his prime, so I could challenge him 1 on 1.
What one word describes yourself as a person, player and teammate? You can have three different ones! I think a word to describe myself as a person, player, and teammate would have to be caring. I care for others, in and out of sports, and I try to be push myself to do my best, and push others to their best also.
If there is a fire and there is only one thing that you can save one thing, what would it be and why? I would have to save my basketball.
What is your favorite thing to do when you get ready for a game? My favorite thing to do when I’m getting ready for a game is to listen to some good rap music and get my head in the game.
What do you like to do when your not playing sports? Whenever I’m not playing sports, I like to ride four-wheelers and just hang around with friends and family.
If you could pick any two players that you play against, to be on your team, who would it be? If I could pick any two players that I play against to be on my team it would for sure have to be Lukas Isaly from River High School and Taylor Jarrell from Van High School. They are both excellent ball players and athletes.
Heading into your senior season what goals have you set for yourself and the team, and what would you change about yourself as a teammate if any? My goal heading into my senior year is what any athlete wants… A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!
