MHS Nips River in Spike-Out

A full day of summer volleyball took place at Paden City High School on Saturday July, 1 with Magnolia finishing the day with an 8-1 record, winning the championship over River, two sets to one. The Pilots won the first set of the match 25-23, but the Blue Eagles came roaring back to take the second set, 27-25, to win the third set and the match, 15-10 third. The River Pilots got into the championship game by knocking off the hosts, Paden City, two sets to one, 24-26, 25-23 and 15-10, while Magnolia defeated Frontier in two straight 27-25 and 25-12 to get in.

During pool play, the Wildcats ended with a 4-2 record, defeating Frontier and River in straight sets while dropping two to Magnolia. The ‘Cats finished the day with five wins and four losses.

Magnolia’s only loss of the day came in the first set of the Championship match. River finished the day with a 5-5 record, while Frontier went 0-8.

Paden City’s Jenna Ferrebee had a big day with 40 service points, and 34 kills, while Katrina Heasley added 12 sets, 24 kills and 42 points. Also playing well was the ‘Cats freshman Hope Weber, who accounted for 32 kills and 16 points.
