Spotlight Shines On Parsons

By Staff | Jun 21, 2017

Brooks Parsons has excelled in track.

With fall sports up next in August, we will spotlight a few athletes in the upcoming weeks, until the season begins mid-August.

Soon-to-be a senior Brooks Parsons has done more in three years than most athletes will ever be a part of. He has been a first team All-Stater, All -OVAC and All-Valley in football, as well as the leading rebounder in basketball for Magnolia. He was a state champion in track, as well as in football and basketball.

Brooks was asked, with one year left, what is there left to accomplish in sports? He answered, “During my senior year I would like to make it back to Wheeling Island and win a State Title as a senior. Winning it as a leader would be the best feeling in the world and I would love to do it with the team that we have.”

Brooks was also asked what he likes to do when not playing sports. He answered, “When I’m not playing sports I like to workout and hangout with friends.”

With Brooks having already thrived in football, basketball and track – where he is the only athlete from Magnolia to win a state title in football, basketball and track in one year – it’s definitely exciting to see where his senior year will lead him.

We will try to spotlight on a few top-notch athletes during the off-season until things gets rolling. If you know of an athlete we can highlight in sports, please contact Bruce Crawford at 304-455-3300, or bcrawford@wetzelchronicle.com., as well as 304-771-1278.
