Memorial Scholarship Winners Announced
Three Wetzel County seniors have been awarded a $1,000 Tad Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarship for 2017. These awards were presented on Awards Day at their high schools.
This year’s recipients are Cameron Cross from Paden City High School, Anntwinette Fox from Hundred High School and Kristen Massey from Magnolia High School.
Cameron Cross is the son of Angelia and Marcy Cross of Paden City and will be attending Glenville State College this fall and major in Secondary Education. While attending Paden City High School, Cameron was a member of the Respect Club and was involved in theater. He eventually wants to be a Social Study teacher.
While attending Hundred High School, Anntwinette Fox was a member of the National Honor Society, Hundred FFA, TSA, and was a participant in Match Field Day, County Young Writers, and was an Academic Letterman. She was active and participated in many community projects. Annie is the daughter of Jim and Lori Fox of Littleton. She will attend Potomac State College of WVU and major in Agricultural Education.
Kristen Massey, the daughter of Renee and Jeff Massey of New Martinsville, was a member of the Science and National Honor Society, MU Alpha Theata, Drug Free Club, and was on the Advisory Committee. She participated in peer tutoring, quiz Bowl, Volleyball, cheerleading and track.
Kristen has been involved in many community activities. She will be attending West Virginia University and will be majoring in Accounting.
These Scholarships are funded from proceeds of the previous Tad Fitzsimmons 5K Run/Walks that were held for eight years in Tad’s honor and the generous donations from businesses and friends.
