River High School students Shayna Indermuhle and Parker Caretti have been selected as the recipients of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s prestigious Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award.

The Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award, sponsored by the Ohio High School Athletic Association, is designed to promote sportsmanship, ethics and integrity.

The award, named for two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, is presented each year to a male and female student who have been outstanding in their efforts to promote sportsmanship in their school and community.

This year’s honorees were recognized at the Academic Awards Ceremony held on May 11 at River High School. Caretti is a two-year letterman in varsity football, four-year letterman in basketball, and lettered one year in track and field.

He also was named to the District 12 All Star Game, the Ohio North-South Game, First Team All-State for football and OVAC First Team for both football and basketball.

Indermuhle lettered two years in cross-country and three years in track. She also qualified for the regional track meet and was an OVAC runner-up in 9th and 11th grade.
