Paden City Sweeps Beallsville In Double Header

Paden City welcomed Beallsville Friday night, hosting two games. The first game was a makeup from a rainout on April 11. Aubrey Neff took the mound and got the win for the Wildcats, going the distance and giving up four runs on five hits while striking out seven batters and walking only two as the Cats won game one, 8-4, to get their ninth win of the season.

The Wildcats had eight hits on the night with Hannah Loy knocking in a run on three singles at four at bats. Also adding RBI were Neff with a single, Madaline Cox with two singles, Hope Cooper with a single and Delainey Lantz with a single.

The Wildcats picked right up where they left off in game one on April 28 in Beallsville, capturing the second game, 7-6, win for the sweep.

Aubrey Neff got her second win of the night, striking out three and walking just one batter. Beallsville out-hit the Cats 11-8 and committed one less error, but Paden City led where it counts – on the scoreboard. Ashlyn Moses cobbered the ball with three hits, including a double, two singles, and five RBI’s to lead the Cat attack. Madaline Cox got two hit in three attempts and Delainey Lantz added an RBI single. The win gave the Wildcats 10 wins on the season.

“It felt good to win two in a row, the girls have been on a mini losing streak and they needed these two games. Aubrey pitched well tonight, working both games, and we had some kids step upand make some big plays. We had timely hits and brought in our runners. We never left too many stranded tonight and that makes a difference,” said Coach Neff.

“This was a confidence builder for the girls . We are 10-19 and hope to improve that with the sectionals coming next.”


Late PCHS Come-Back Falls Short

Ritchie County raced out to a 6-0 lead over Paden City and held on for a 8-5 victory April 26 in Ritchie County High School.

After falling behind 6-0 heading into the fourth inning, the Lady Cats scratched out two runs with two outs. Katrina Heasley, Ashlyn Moses and Hannah Loy each had back-to-back-to-back singles with Loy’s blast knocking in Heasley. Aubrey Neff reached on an error that plated Moses to climbed back into contention.

However, the Devils tallied one more in the bottom half to push their lead to 7-2 after four innings of play.

The never-say-die Lady Wildcats would close the gap to 7-5 when they scored three runs in the sixth when Madison Knight opened the frame with a double. Moses doubled her home with Loy and Jenna Ferrebee each adding RBI singles.

Ritchie added one more in the sixth to close things out.

Loy started and worked two innings, striking out one and walking three, took the loss, while Neff finished with one strikeout and no walks. Both hurlers limited Ritchie to seven hits on the night.

Moses singled and doubled, knocking in a run, while Ferrebee singled twice and plated a run to lead the 11-hit Wildcat attack. Loy helped herself out at the plate with two RBI singles, while Neff belted a double. Knight also doubled, while Madeline Cox, Hope Cooper and Heasley each singled.


Notre Dame Claims Victory Over PC

Notre Dame scored four early runs and held off a gallant Paden City comeback to claim a 7-6 victory in the first game of a two-team double-header April 25 at Paden City Park.

The Lady Irish scored three runs in the opening stanza, but the Wildcats countered with a run in the bottom half when Hannah Loy singled, stole a base and rushed to third on an Aubrey Neff walk. Loy scored on a Madeline Cox ground-out.

Notre Dame added a run in the second and two more in the fourth, but the Wildcats clawed out four runs in the bottom half on six base-hits. They would leave two in scoring position at the end of the fourth with Notre Dame on top, 6-5.

The Irish added an all important insurance run in the top of the seventh, and it would be the game-winner as the Wildcats added a run on a Hope Cooper single to end a hard-fought game.

Paden City out hit their opponent 9-8, but fell just a little short in the end. Neff paced the Wildcat attack with a single and a double, while Cox singled twice and knocked in a run to pace Paden City in the hit department. Loy also had two singles, while Delaney Lantz doubled.

In addition, Shelby Gatian plated a pair with a single, while Katrina Heasley knocked in a run. Neff took the loss from the circle. She struck-out five and walked one.


Cee-Bees Sting Wildcats, 13-2

The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees pounded out 15-hits and scored 13 runs to defeat Paden City April 25 at Paden City Park.

Clay-Battelle led 9-0 heading into the bottom of the third, when the Lady Wildcats plated a pair, when Skylar Faulk singled and scored on a Hannah Loy triple, who was knocked home on a Katrina Heasley base hit.

However, the ‘ Bees tallied two in the fourth and fifth innings to gain the mercy-rule 13-2 victory.

Loy paced the Wildcats with an RBI triple, while Heasley added an RBI single. Faulk, Jenna Ferrebee and Kallie Arnett each belted a single. Loy took the loss from the circle. She stuck out one and walked a pair.
