St. John Wins Double-Header Over Lady Cats
Hannah Loy and Jenna Ferrebee each belted three singles in the opener, while Ferrebee added two singles in the night-cap, but it wasn’t quite enough to get past Bellaire St. John 6-4 and 5-0 in a double-header March 25 in Bellaire.
Aubrey Neff took the loss in the opener, struck-out one and walked three, while Caitlyn Stewart took the loss in the nightcap, struck-out two and walked three. Madeline Cox added a double in the twin-bill for the Wildcats.
Lady Knights Defeat Wildcats, 10-3
Paden City’s Aubrey Neff belted a double and drilled a home run, but it wasn’t quite enough to get by Tyler Consolidated for the second straight day, 10-3, March 23 in Kidwell.
The Lady Knights took a commanding 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the Lady Wildcats tallied one in the second and another run in the third to close the gap to one run with a towering home run by Neff over the left field fence.
However, the Knights tacked on a solo shot by Vanessa Templeton just out of the reach of Shelby Gatian in left field to match the home run by the PC hurler Neff to extend their advantage to 4-2 after three innings of play.
After a scoreless fourth, the Wildcats tacked on a run, but the Lady Knights would bust the game wide-open with a four-run fifth and two more in the sixth to get the win.
Tyler posted 12 hits on the night, while Paden City belted a half-dozen. Neff paced the Wildcats with a double and a home-run, while Ashlyn Mosses smacked two singles. Within the circle, she struck-out five and walked two.
Templeton paced the Lady Knights with a double and a home-run, and from the circle she struck-out eight, while Madison Lasick delivered three singles and Ali Miller, two.
In addition, Joralda Rice doubled and knocked in three runs, while Kylie Martin and Madison West each belted a double.
Tyler Consolidated Holds Off Lady Wildcats, 11-5
Paden City took a 4-1 in the second, but the Lady Knights out-scored the Lady ‘Cats 10-1 the rest of the way to get a 11-5 victory March 22 at Paden City Park.
Hannah Loy was the pitcher of record took the loss, struck out four and walked eight, while Caitlin Stewart struck out one and didn’t walk a batter in her two innings of work.
Aubrey Neff and Delaney Lantz each had a pair of RBI singles, while Madeline Cox also had a pair of base hits. Ashlyn Moses brought home a run with a double for all the Lady Wildcat statistics.
Madison West got the win for Tyler Consolidated. She struck out nine and walked a pair in the circle.
Madison Devaughn hit a two-run homer, while West doubled. Kylie Martin and Allie Miller each hit a pair of singles, while Vanessa Templeton had a triple and a triple, and a RBI to help Tyler Consolidated even their record to 1-1.
Wildcats Open Season With 15-3 Victory
The Lady Wildcats scored 15 runs in the first two innings to defeat Hundred, 15-3, in a mutual season opener March 20 at Paden City Park.
Sydney Hoyle lined a two-out single, but ‘Cats hurler Aubrey Neff struck out two in the inning to get out of the first frame unscathed.
Hannah Loy lined the opening pitch down the left field line, but Lady Hornets’ third baseman Emily Matthews made a great grab to rob her of an extra base hit. However, Paden City’s next seven batters reached base and scored. Madeline Cox started things off with a walk and scored on a stand-up triple by Neff to get the party started.
Jenna Ferrebee then walked and scored on a Hope Cooper double. Cooper moved to third on a Caitlin Stewart single. Ashlyn Moses cleared the bases with a double to push the Wildcats lead to 5-0. Katrina Heasley would then reach base on an error, scoring Moses.
Shelby Gatian then singled in Heasley to end the Paden City scoring.
The Hornets would then tally three runs in the top of the second, when Miranda Gray opened the inning with a single. After a strikeout, Taylor Fetty singled Gray to third, and Tori Hawkins singled her in.
Madeline Goff then scored Fetty with a base hit, and Brittany Tustin brought home Hawkins with groundout.
Paden City scored eight runs in the bottom half on six hits, with the big blow coming from Neff with her second three-bagger of the night. Ferrebee added a two-RBI double.
Neff picked up the win from the circle, limiting the Lady Hornets to seven hits. She struck out five and walked two. She also drilled a pair of triples and a single, while scoring three times. Ferrebee and Moses both had a single and a double, while Ferrebee plated two and Moses three.
In addition, Cooper singled and doubled, plated one, while Gatian singled twice.
Hoyle and Hawkins each singled twice to lead the Lady Hornets, while Gray, Goff and Taylor Fetty each added singles for all the Hundred hitting.
