Big Blue Soars Over Knights, 64-37
Magnolia held Tyler Consolidated to no field-goals for almost a quarter and a half, enroute to a 64-37 victory Dec. 29 inside the MHS HammerDome.
Magnolia raced out to a 10-2 first quarter lead, and bumped it up to 28-9 at the break. However, the Silver Knights played right with the Eagles in the second half, with the Eagles outscoring Tyler, 36-28.
The Eagles’ Kelsi Chapman scored a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining in the game to give her 1,000 career points.
Chapman nailed five triples on her way to a game-high 23 points for the Big Blue, while teammate Taylor Ludewig chipped in with 10 points and dished out 10 assists for a double-double.
In addition, Kendra Pilant was one point from a double-double pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Jordan Delaney and Logan Riggs each tallied eight points, while Autumn Cecil recorded four points and Aquera Cabrel sank two free throws.
Amanda Reynolds paced the Lady Knights with 12 points, while adding three assists, two steals and blocked two shots. Aleah Black and Joralda Rice evenly shared 10, while Peyton Kocher added four, including one from beyond the arch.
In addition, KoLee Walton and Josie Jones each tallied three markers, while Allie Miller and Autumn Wells each recorded a deuce for all the Lady Knight scoring.
The Blue Eagles will open the new year at home Jan. 2 against St. Marys, while the Lady Knights will travel to Ritchie County Jan. 3.
