‘Jacks Swat Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees, 58-50
Valley out-scored Clay-Battelle 19-11 in the third period that was good enough to get past the Cee-Bees, 58-50 in boys basketball action Dec. 22 inside the VHS Gymnasium.
Clay-Battelle held a slim 10-9 lead after one period of play, but the Lumberjacks knotted things up by the break with a 21-11 run. In the final stanza, Clay-Battelle and the Valley Lumberjacks each tallied 18 points, that was good enough for the home-team to get the win.
Alex Midcap paced the ‘Jacks with a season-high 20 points, including a trio of three point bonus bombs, and picked up a double-double grabbing 10 rebounds. Dylan Irvin, also had a double. He scored 13 points and hauled in a season-high 19 rebounds, while Peyton Bassett netted a season-high 14 points.
In addition, Levi Streets contributed eight markers, including one from beyond the arch, while Ethan Greathouse netted a deuce and Sam Bucher a free throw.
The Lumberjacks improved to 3-2 on the season, will travel to South Harrison Dec. 28, while the Cee-Bees dropped to 2-2.
