This week’s area athletes winning the title of “Player Of the Week” are Taylor Ludewig and Kelsi Champan of the Magnolia volleyball team.

Ludewig and Chapman both played an instrumental part in helping Magnolia defeat six teams in the Weir Volleyball Tournament, as well as in the Williamstown/Paden City tri-match and the John Marshall duel match.

Earning Special Honorable Mention was the Lady Wildcats’ Aubrey Neff and the Eagles’ Bailey Estep, while the Eagles Jordan Delaney earned Honorable Mention as the only only area cross country runner that competed in the WVSSAC Cross Country Championships, placing 18th with a solid time of 20:46.

During the fall sports season, athletes who win “Player of the Week” can only win once during the fall season, but can win again once post-season, and playoffs begin.

Only athletes from Hundred, Magnolia, Paden City, River and Valley Wetzel are the only schools recognized. The student athletes are selected by the sports staff at the Wetzel Chronicle.
