Delaney and Barbera Place In Top 15 In Wet and Wild Race
The Eagles Jordan Delaney and Bre Barbera each medaled and placed in the top 15 in the Cameron Wet and Wild Invitational Oct. 1 in Cameron.
University and Morgantown Trinity had the only two full teams out of 12 that participated. TaShala Turner from University was the top female runner with a time of 23:23.3, with Delaney coming in sixth with a time of 23:31.5, and Barbera, 24:47.5 in 14th place.
Arissa Kline from Paden City finished in 42nd place at 34:14.4, while her teammates Shelby Gatian (34:57.0) and Paige Leonard (40:13.4) in the 45 girl race.
University made it a clean sweep winning the boys race, while Weir finished second in the 12 boys team race.
Nick Summerlin of University finished first in a 71 male field with a time of 19:29.8, while Mason Dowell of Magnolia finished 38th with a solid time of 24:02.8, with teammates Dan Goddard (26:26.3) and Austin Pyles (28:08.9) as well as Paden City’s Damien Britton (27:55.3), Jacob Amos (32:11.3), Paxton Pierce (32:19.1) and Cyrus Stillwagner (32:43.8) finished our county’s high school runners.
In the middle school race Zara Zervus of Sherard placed first in the girls division with a time of 12:45.5, while the Wildcats’ Brandis Dalrymple (15:42.7) and Julianne Hood (16:09.7) finished 50th and 67th, respectively in a 189 girls race.
Brandon Hizer (15:46.1) was the only male middle school runner – placing 102 in a 171 boys field, with Michael Hoefler of Suncrest placing first at 11:07.9.
