Hundred Volleyball Still Serving Hornet Pride

The Hornets opened the season with a win over Notre Dame, but have fallen to teams like Valley, Paden City, Frontier, South Harrison, and as of late – Clay-Battelle, Mapletown and St. Marys.

In the win over Notre Dame, Valerie Soles scored 18 points, that included 10 aces. She also had four digs, a trio of kills and blocks to lead Hundred to its first win of the season.

Madeline Goff tallied nine points, three aces, dished out seven assists and made four digs, while Miranda Gray contributed eight points, three aces, digs and tallied one kill, assist and block. Katherine Henderson scored six points, one by an ace, and contributed three digs, two kills and one block.

In addition, Emily Metz tallied five service points, two aces, three digs and one assist, while Sydney Doyle added four points, two aces, three digs and one kill. Brittany Tustin made one kill and pumped up eight digs for all the Hundred statistics.


Last week the Hornets hosted Mapletown and Clay-Battelle on Sept. 12, losing to Mapletown, 10-25 and 10-25, and Clay-Battelle, 12-25 and 20-25. The Hornets fell the next night to the visiting St Marys Blue Devils in a three set match by the identical 10-25 score the next night.

In the three losses, Goff recorded a triple-double for the Hornets. She tallied 15 points, that included an ace, 10 assists, and 15 digs, while Soles added eight blocks, 10 digs, 10 kills, and scored eight points, with three aces. Gray contributed 20 digs, six points, two service aces, four blocks and dished out an assist.

In addition, Henderson posted 14 points, four service aces, 11 digs, four kills and made one assist. Tustin recorded 22 digs, four points and one assist, while Hoyle netted 12 points, two aces, two kills, two assists and 10 digs. Metz ended the Hornets statistics with eight points, one service ace, and four digs.


The Hundred Hornets clipped the Hawks in the opening set, 25-24 in over-time, but the Hawks soared past Hundred 13-25, 10-25 and 12-25 in the next three sets to win a match Sept. 15 at South Harrison.

Sydney Hoyle delivered four of her game-high 14 points with perfection serves, while adding five digs and a kill nto pace the Lady Hornet attack. Madeline Goff tallied a dozen markers, while adding one ace, seven assists and three digs. Valerie Soles made eight kills and blocks, while serving up six points and one ace.

In addition, Emily Metz contributed eight points, one ace, four assists and pumped up a dig.
