Lady Pilots Bring Down Blue Devils

Brissa Marshall and Candace Caldwell combined for 31 points, that included 10 service aces, with Marshall contributing 23 digs and Caldwell 11 assists and one dig to lead River to a four-set victory over the Blue Devils Sept. 6 in Beallsville.

After beating the Blue Devils in the first two sets, 25-15 and 25-16, Beallsville responded with a 23-25 third set victory, before falling 26-24 to the Pilots in overtime.

Madison Harmon recorded half of her 10 points on service aces, while making 16 digs and pounding out three kills for the visitors. Lauren Flannery tallied eight points, including a service ace. She also made 18 assists, seven digs, six kills and made two blocks in an all around nice effort.

In addition, Lexi Piatt had an ace in her five points, while making six digs and one kill. Bailey Caldwell scored half of her four points via service aces. She also made a block, while pounding out a team-high 14 kills, and bumping up 13 digs. Megan Dennis ended the Pilots statistics with five kills and two digs.


River Pilots Outlast Maroon Knights

After the Pilots won the opening set 25-15, the Knights put it together to claim the second set before Brissa Marshall and company fought back, winning set three 25-21and the fourth 25-5 to win the match Sept. 1 in Wheeling.

Marshall paced the Pilots with 34 service points, that included a career-high 10 aces, while bumping up a team-high 19 digs to lead the Lady Pilots in the victory.

Bailey Caldwell pounded out 69 spikes, with 16 kills; she also added one block and 12 digs, while Madison Harman netted 20 points, two aces, 26 spikes and 17 digs.

In addition, Candace Caldwell provided 16 points, seven spikes, two for kills, and five digs, while Lauren Flannery tallied four points, 37 spikes, eight kills, 24 assists, eight digs and had a block. Lexi Piatt had an ace, eight spikes, one block and a dozen digs, while Megan Dennis added six kills, one block and two digs.


Lady Pilots Fall Short Against Seminoles

Three River spikers pounded the nets for 89 spikes, but it wasn’t quite enough to get past the Monroe County Lady Seminoles (19-25, 9-25, 13-25) in straight sets in high school volleyball action in Hannibal Aug. 30.

The visiting Pilots kept pace with the hosts for most of the match, but late in the set, the Seminoles would put the Pilots away to win 19-25.

From this point on, it was all Monroe Central as the Seminoles didn’t waste any time in handing the Pilots a 9-25 and 13-25 loss, respectively to win the match.

For the Pilots, Bailey Caldwell blasted 38 spikes and bumped up 12 digs, while Brissa Marshall added a service ace, and made 13 digs to pace the Lady Pilot clan.

Madison Harman and Lauren Flannery combined for 52 spikes and 24 digs, with Flannery dishing out six assists and rejecting two Seminole shots, while Harman added a service ace.

In addition, Candace Caldwell, had three assists and made four digs, while Lexi Piatt and Megan Dennis combined for 17 spikes, and four digs.


River Cruise To First Win Of Season

Brissa Marshall scored 14 service points, including three service aces, and bumped up 11 digs, while Bailey Caldwell scored five points, slammed 12 kills on 43 spikes, blocked three shots and made eight digs to help lift the River Pilots down the Big Reds in straight sets, 25-11, 25-22 and 25-14 Aug. 23 in Bellaire.

Lauren Flannery (four points) and Candace Caldwell (seven points) combined for 27 assists and eight digs, while Flannery rejected two shots at the net, and Candace served up an ace. In addition, Madison Harman fired up 26 spikes, with five kills, while bumping up eight digs, and scoring 28 points. Megan Dennis had three of her 12 spikes go for kills, while making four blocks and one dig. Lexi Piatt scored nine points and bumped up four digs, while Allison Bennett scored twice and made an assist.


Jets Blank Pilots In Three

The Union Local Jets earned a victory over the visiting River Pilots on Monday Aug. 22 in straight sets by the scores of 25-8, 25-12 and 25-18.

The Pilots were paced by Brissa Marshall who tallied two points and 15 digs in two sets, while Madison Harman chipped in with 14 digs, one kill and one block in three sets.

In addition, Bailey Caldwell dropped in four kills, four digs and served up an ace, while Lauren Flannery provided four digs, three kills, two blocks and had one assist. Candace Caldwell scored a service points, while adding three assists, and four digs.

Lixi Piatt had six digs, one assist and scored a service point, while Macey Ladyga contributed a kill, block and dig, and Megan Dennis a dig.
