Kocher, Herrick, Yeater Named Players of the Week

Yeater set a new Paden City record in the long jump in the WVSSAC Class A, Region I championships last week at St. Marys. His 21-7.50 surpassed his father’s school mark set in 1989 at the Pepsi Invitational at John Marshall High School, which broke the 22-year record set in 1967 by ex-PCHS all-sports athlete Denny Price.
Herrick ran the second leg the of championship Magnolia 4×400 meter team, where she made up five seconds that gave them the opportunity to win and advance to the state track meet in Charleston. She also helped her 4×100 and 4×200 teams qualify.
During the spring sports season, players can only win “Player Of The Week” honors once during the regular season, with athletes from Hundred, Magnolia, Paden City, River and Valley the only teams being recognized. The student athletes are selected by the sports staff at Wetzel Chronicle.
