PCHS Cheerleaders Finish 2nd at OVACs
The Paden City Wildcats finished runner-up to Bishop Donahue in Class A in the 25th OVAC Cheerleading competition at WesBanco Arena Feb. 6.
The Wildcats, coached by Kim Hizer and Hannah Shreve, put on a dazzling show for the thousands that were in attendance. Paden City’s Jenna and Kallie Arnett, Cheyenne Blizzard, Kacie Hartwig, Desiree Heasley, Katrina Heasley, Paige Leonard, Malayna Price and Caitlin Stewart had the many in attendance on their feet during the entire performance. Bellaire St. John’s and Conotton Valley finished third and fourth, respectively.
In Class AA, Toronto nipped Shadyside by less than two points, while Bridgeport, Cameron and River finished third, fourth and fifth place. In the Class AAA, Linsly took care of business, while Bellaire, Barnesville, Shenandoah and Steubenville Catholic Central followed, respectively.
In the big schools, St. Clairsville repeated as champions in Class 4A, with Union Local, Harrison Central, Martins Ferry, Oak Glen and Indian Creek following, respectively.
In the final competition of the day, Wheeling Park brought down the house to win another title, while Weir, John Marshall and Steubenville followed, respectively.
There were performances by Warwood, St Clairsville and Triadelphia middle schools who won in the OVAC Middle School competition earlier in the year.
Area McDonalds also donated $10,000 to the OVAC during the OVAC Cheerleading Competition.
