River Boys Win Trio of Games

After holding a modest 26-20 lead at the break, River went on a 40-23 run in the second half to beat Shenandoah, 66-43, in boys’ basketball action Jan. 5 at Shenandoah High School Gymnasium.

The Pilots had four players score in double figures with Lukas Isaly leading the way with 19 points, that included one three-ball and made 10-12 free throws to pace the Pilots offensive attack.

Meanwhile, Drew Dietz posted a bakers dozen, while the duo of Brandon Smith and Isaac Curtis combined for 33 points, that included seven baskets from beyond the arc.

In addition, Parker Caretti netted five points, while Jordan Doty and Blaze Amos netted four and two points, respectively.

Pilots Cage Bulldogs, 71-31

Lukas Isaly secured a game-high 21 points as the River Pilots defeated the Bridgeport Bulldogs, 71-31, in boys’ high school basketball action Jan. 8 inside RL Potts Gymnasium.

The Pilots outscored their guests 14-8 after one period and led 32-13 at the break. The Pilots’ defense caged the Bulldogs into single-digit scoring in all four periods, while 10 different River Pilots scored on offense.

Jordan Doty and Drew Dietz each netted eight points, while Parker Caretti contributed seven points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Pilots.

In addition, Brandon Smith and Isaac Curtis each posted six points, while Michael Collins dropped in five points. Mason Ladyga and Ben Riley each posted four points, while Michael Dierkes sank a basket.

Jayquan Ice and Jeremiah Booker each collected 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Pilots Defense Leads To 64-18 Victory

The River defense held the visiting Silver Knights to single digits in every quarter, including one point in the final stanza, and went on to defeat Tyler Consolidated, 64-18, in boys high school basketball action, Jan. 8 inside RL Potts Gymnasium.

Lukas Isaly was the key component for the Pilots, scoring a game-high 27 points, that included a basket from beyond the arc. Isaly also contributed 12 points and dished out eight assists in limited playing time. Isaac Curtis dialed in four long distance 3-pointers, while Brandon Smith tallied eight points, that also included a pair of three-balls.

In addition, Parker Caretti sank three baskets, while Michael Collins drained a pair of baskets. Jordan Doty drilled a three-ball, while Blaze Amos and Michael Dierkes each tallied a deuce.

The Silver Knights’ Kyle Frum paced Tyler Consolidated with eight points.
