Hundred’s Moore, Magnolia’s Ludewig Named Players of the Week
This week’s Players of the Week are the Hundred’s Holden Moore and Magnolia’s Taylor Ludewig.
Moore scored a career-high 41 points in the 77-34 win over Mapletown, including four baskets from beyond the arc. Moore also added eight steals, four rebounds and dished out three assists in his best game of the season thus-far.
Ludewig, a junior point guard, tallied her first triple-double (13 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists) of the season against the Frontier Cougars.
Special mention went to the Wildcats’ Luke Cooper, and the Lady Pilots’ Jensen Caretti, while the Eagle’s Mitch Winters and Kelsi Chapman were selected as honorable mention.
Cooper scored a game-high 26 points, including a basket from beyond the arc, while pulling down a game-high seven boards and making three steals. Caretti scored 34 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, blocked seven shots, dished out five assists and made four steals to lead the Lady Pilots to a 70-46 victory over Bellaire Big Reds.
Winters contributed a double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and blocked three shots in helping the Blue Eagles humble Monroe Central 91-52 in the Eagles home-opener. Chapman scored a game-high 24 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc, and swished 5-of-6 free throws to help Magnolia get past Valley, 51-45.
During the winter sports season, players can only win one Players of the Week, with Hundred, Magnolia, Paden City, River and Valley the only teams getting recognized. Those athletes are selected by the sport staff at the Wetzel Chronicle.
