Boswell Combines For 79 Points
Wheeling Jesuit University signee, Preston Boswell, scored 79 points including eight bonus bombs to help lead the Magnolia Blue Eagles to a 73-46 and 79-52 victory over Brooke and Elkins, respectively, in the Morgantown Roundball Classic in their first two games of the season.
Brooke ties things up at 16-16 early in the second period, before the Big Blue went on a 12-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Boswell scored a career-high 45 points, including four three-ball, and swished 13-15 free throws in the quarters of work, in the win over Brooke, while senior classmate Mitch Winters netted double-figures with 13 points, including one basket from beyond the arc.
Kyle Ritz and Tyler Williamson each netted five markers which Williamson dialed in from long distance. Alex Anderson tallied three points while Zach Haught and Tyler Anderson each swishing a charity toss.
In the win over Elkins, the Eagles jumped out to a 20-0 run to open the game. Boswell tallied 36 points, while Winters collected 10 points as the only double-digit scorers for the Blue Eagles. Ritz followed with eight points, while Williamson netted seven markers that also included a triple.
Derrick Blain swished a pair of long range bonus bombs while Jarret Moore and Dylan Jackson each netted three points. Brooks Parsons, Alex and Tyler Anderson each sank a deuce for all the Magnolia scoring.
