Valley Comes Away With Win Against Tyler
On a night when Pine Grove Valley honored one of its own – Lou Mott – the Lumberjacks used a strong inside game to come away with a 73-66 win over Tyler Consolidated.
First-year Tyler head coach Bob Jones tried several different players to try and stop the inside play of Valley, but the Lumberjacks took advantage of their height to come away with the win.
After falling behind early, the Silver Knights played catchup most of the game behind the ballhandling of Dylan Roberts and scoring of Jace Reed. Tyler took its only lead of the game, 63-62, on a 3-ball by Reed with 2:36 remaining in the fourth. Valley came right back and outscored the Knights 11-3 over the final two minutes to secure the victory.
Reed took game-scoring honors with 32 points while also grabbing 11 boards. Roberts chipped in with 14, while grabbing three rebounds and four steals.
Valley was led by Joey Preat with 20 points, 16 which came in the second half. He also collared eight boards. Dylan Irvin supported the cause with 15 points and 11 boards.
