Wells, Pratt Chosen as Athletes of the Week
Hogan Wells, a senior fullback and linebacker on the Silver Knights football team, has been chosen as the Tyler County athlete of the week. Wells had a monster game from the fullback position against the Valley Lumberjacks on Friday.
With Tyler running shorthanded, Wells was given the ball 35 times and responded with 200 yards and one touchdown in the loss to the Lumberjacks. Wells broke tackle after tackle and carried defenders to get his yardage. He ran with power and force and also had a great game on defense.
Wells, who missed all of last year with an injury, has been a consistent player all year for the Knights. Congratulations to Hogan Wells for a job well done.
For the second week in a row, Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights’ freshman cross country runner Katie Pratt has been chosen as the female athlete of the week. After qualifying for the state meet last week, Pratt turned in an impressive performance on Saturday at the state meet held at Cabell Midland High School.
Pratt finished 33rd out of 145 runners in the girls division with a time of 21:27 to be the first local runner to cross the finish line.
She was very excited about her time and Tyler Consolidated fans should be very proud of her effort. Congratulations to Katie Pratt on a great day at the state meet.
