Streets Earns Player of The Week

Trey Streets of the Valley Lumberjacks is our lone recipient of Player of the Week honors. Streets has enjoyed a terrific season with one game remaining in the regular season.

In nine games, he has rushed for 1,527 yards and passed for 809 more for a total of 2,336 yards and 26 touchdowns. In his last game, he stunned Tyler Consolidated with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Tucker

Cain for the equalizer, and won the game with his PAT in a 7-6 thriller in Pine Grove Friday night on Senior Night.

Streets rushed for 114 yards and passed for 101 more for a 200-yard night. The ‘Jacks are in the running for a playoff appearance, and a win Friday night at Paden City could propel the Lumberjacks to the WVSSAC Class A Playoffs next week.

The Player of the Week is given to the top area’s top athlete chosen by the sports staff at the Wetzel Chronicle. A player can only win once in that sport throughout the season.

Schools that have a chance to win include, Hundred, Magnolia, River, Paden City and Valley high schools.
