Magnolia's Peyton Moore lets one loose on a drive at the WVSSAC State Tournament.

The Magnolia duo of Peyton Moore and Matthew Durig ended their 2015 high school golfing season at the state tournament at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling Oct. 7.

After shooting an 81 on the first day, Moore found the greens weren’t his best of friends on the final day, shooting an 86 to end the WVSSAC Class-A state tournament with an 86 that tied him for 10th place in the state tournament.

Durig, a senior, couldn’t buy a putt, as eight of the 18 holes saw him rim putts while carding a 96, while following with an 86 to end the tournament with a 182.

It was Moore’s third go around in three years at the state tournament with one season remaining, while Durig made it in his last season.

“Both Peyton and Matthew worked hard all season and I was happy they got to compete with the best of the best at the state tournament,” said Magnolia Head Coach Dave Tallman. “We had our ups and downs during the season, but we still won a lot of matches and won our schools first OVAC Class AAA golf title.”
