Lumberjacks Swat Cee-Bees, 46-14
The Valley Lumberjacks rushed for 314 yards and scored five touchdowns on 36 carries en route to a convincing 46-14 victory over Clay-Battelle Sept. 25 in Blacksville.
The Lumberjacks’ Matthew Throckmorton and Tucker Cain scored on 11-yard and 26-yard campers to help Valley race out to a quick 12-0 lead early in the first quarter.
The Cee-Bees picked off the ‘Jacks Trey Streets and took it to the house for a 26-yard pick-six to cut the deficit in half. Neither team mounted any type of scoring opportunities the rest of the first half or the better part of the third period.
The Lumberjacks’ Streets scored on a seven-yard scamper with 4:05 left in the third period, and added a 77-yard touchdown run to open the final period of play.
Clay-Battelle added a 19-yard TD pass, but Throckmorton added a 56-yard TD run, while Joey Preat added a 45-yard pick-six of his own to put the game on ice after taking it in with the two-point conversion.
The Lumberjacks’ Tyler Kocher returned to the lineup for the first time this season and scored the game’s final points on a three-yard touchdown run. Travis Leek added the two-point conversion run to end the game.
Streets paced the Lumberjack ground game with 175 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, while Throckmorton netted 100 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.
In addition, Cain accumulated 26 yards and a score on three attempts, while Leek and McGee added 12 and three yards, respectively.
Defensively, Kale Lloyd and Dusty Lowe combined for 26 tackles and four sacks. The Lumberjack defense held the mighty Cee-Bee ground game to only 25 yards rushing for the game.
Valley will host Parkersburg Catholic Friday night at Tom West Stadium with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
