Jensen Caretti slammed home 26-kills, blocks nine shots and scored three points to pace the Lady Pilots in a five-set match victory Sept. 14 at Tyler Consolidated.
In the first two opening sets, the Lady Pilots rode the arm of Careeti, while getting solid service points from Haylee Winkler and Bailey “Bombs-Away” Caldwell to win both 25-19. However, the defending WVSSAC Class-A Runner-up Silver Knights won the third and fourth set rather easily, 16-25 and 14-25 to set the table for the deciding fifth set.
In a classic duel, it was the visiting Lady Pilots that came out on top, 15-11 to win the match.
Winkler blocked a shot and scored a dozen service points, including an ace, while setter Lauren Flannery added 10 points, blocked two and dished out a season-high 31 assists.
In addition, Bailey Caldwell tallied 14 points, one ace and made eight kills, while her cousin Candace added three points and dished out five assists. Halee Schulteis and Lexi Piatt came off the bench to bump up three and two digs, respectively.
The Lady Knights made 35 kills in the match with Ariel Fish and Joralda Rice both with nine, while Abbie Fletcher and Josey Jones each recorded eight. Fish also added two blocks, four digs and three points, while Fletcher scored a team-high 13 points. Madison West made a team-high eight digs, while scoring five points.
In addition, Macy Long made 21 assists, while JoLee Walton passed out seven. Both Long and Walton served up 10 points.
In a match against the Valley Lumberjills, Madison Harman and Haylee Winkler combined for 22 points and seven aces and four kills to help lead the River Pilots to a 25-10, 25-8 and 25-14 match victory on Sept. 15 inside R.L. Potts Gymnasium.
Brissa Marshall added 13 points, three aces, and nine digs, while Lauren Flannery tacked on four points, one ace, two kills and dished out a team-high 10 assists.
In addition, Bailey Caldwell contributed nine points, served up three aces, smacked two kills and bumped up a pair of digs. Jensen Caretti scored two points, made eight kills, four blocks and three digs, while Candace Caldwell dished out five assists. Lexi Piatt tallied one point and one kill, while Morgan Mahoney came off the bench to a gain there were no statistics for the Valley Lumberjills.
