Area teams Hundred and Valley High School’s ended their summer workouts with a 7 on 7 at Clay-Battelle High School July 1 that included Mapletown and the Cee-Bees.

The Lumberjack crew won all three of their games, beating Mapletown by a touchdown, while taking it to both Hundred and Clay-Battelle, big time. Hundred other hand didn’t win a game, but made strides both offensively as well as defensively in their three games. They tied Mapletown scoring four touchdowns, while missing out on the win with a last play TD by Mapletown after time was already ended. However, both Hundred and Valley learned quite a bit, before the season gets underway in August.

It was the first such outing for Hundred as they haven’t had the time to play any other 7 on 7 or linemen challenges throughout their three week allotment allowed.

“We looked pretty good for our first 7 on 7,” said Hundred Head Coach Gregory Hostetler. “We are just excited to be back on the football field this season, and this is our first step of many more to come. I’m happy we had a good turnout these three weeks and I hope that more will come out to play. The support of the community is coming along.”

Both Hundred and Valley as well as Paden City, Magnolia, River and Tyler Consolidated will begin their season August 3. Check with the school’s coaches on starting times. Players must have a physical and school packet filled out before then to be able to practice.
