Blue Devils Rally to Best Wildcats
The Wildcats softball team looked to have a victory in hand as it took a commanding 5-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth against St. Marys on Wednesday, April 29. However the Blue Devils had other ideas and scored six in the bottom half to squeak out a 7-5 victory, dropping the cats to 10-12 on the season.
For the most part P.C. received a solid team effort an looked as though they would bring home a win but it wasn’t to be. Aubrey and Amber Neff along with Taylor Cosper worked the mound for the cats recording two strikeouts and issuing four walks.
Paden City put one on the board in the first and added two more in the third and fifth as they hit the ball well all evening. Kayla Hizer had two singles on the night and Amber Neff added a single and an RBI. Aubrey Neff drilled a had hit triple and added two singles and brought home three runners. Taylor Cosper also had a big night with the bat as she slammed a double and a triple to drive in a run.
With postseason play right around the corner the Lady Cats looked primed to make a run in tournament play.
Paden City’s Abby Still broke up a Weirton Madonna no-hitter in the OVAC Class-A Semi-final at I-470 Complex in Wheeling April 28, losing 11-0. Amber Neff took the loss from the circle. She struck out one and walked three.
