Tyler Fair Kicks Off At Speedway Aug. 3
A giant night of classic ‘Bullring’ action awaits this Sunday Night, Aug. 3, as the 52nd annual Tyler County Fair kicks off in grand fashion. The hills will come alive as the Hometown Racing Association and the Tyler County Speedway will look to honor former track promoter Bud Weigle and welcome the FASTRAK Touring Series and the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour to town.
The rescheduled $2,000 to win Dickson Classic will showcase the highly popular Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour featuring the best Modifieds on the East Coast. From current point leader Kyle Strickler to New York’s Rich Michael Jr. to Kentucky young gun Tyler Nicely and father/son duos of Mark and Travis Dickson and Robbie and Tyler Evans, a stout field of Renegade Mods are expected to be on hand in search of the prestigious Dickson Classic.
Also, the stacked card will see the return of the FASTRAK Touring Series as the best crate Late Model racers head to the ‘Bullring’ looking for the $1,500 first prize. If that is not enough, they will also be honoring Bud Weigle, former track promoter with a $1,500 to win Super Late Model special. Bud Weigle Memorial trophies will be presented in all divisions.
Also on the stellar card will be the Hotmods, Modlites, 4 Cylinders, and JJK Mineral MWRA Mini Wedges. General admission is $15 with pit admission priced at $35, children 10 and under free. Earl Hill Memorial Rescheduled for Saturday Night, August 23rd
As the green was about to drop on the 26th edition of the Earl Hill Memorial, mother-nature dropped in and delivered the checkered flag on what was set to be a tremendous show.
Drivers and fans were continuing to pour into the ‘Bullring’ in anticipation of the biggest and richest Earl Hill Memorial to date before a steady rain set in over the speedway, forcing promoters to reschedule the event for Aug. 23.
A pit full of stout Super Late Models were on hand and eager to honor the Legend Earl Hill in hopes of grabbing the $10,000 first prize. Those already in the pit area included Davey Johnson, Devin Friese, Devin Moran, Tim Dohm, Zack Dohm, Keith Barbara, Butch McGill, Daniel Hill, Derek Doll, Steve Lucas, Rick Aukland, Doug Drown, Steve Weigle, Sonny Conley, Charlie Maloney, Rick Conley, Mike Smith, Steve Wilmoth, Billy Brown, Greg Baumberger, Brian Baumberger, Gary Dalton, Brandon Carter, Mike Benedum, Corey Conley, Bryan Casey, Jared Hawkins, and Jacob Hawkins. Another stellar field is expected to return for the unsanctioned 10k Earl Hill Memorial.
It will also be Season Championship night in the JJK Mineral MWRA Mini Wedges, Two Brothers Motorsports Modifieds, Peoples Bank FASTRAK Late Models, Hotmods, Modlites and FWD 4 Cylinders divisions.
