Pilots’ Looking To Turn Season Around

Caldwell 70, River 48

The Pilots’ Parker Caretti netted a team-high 16 points, including a trio of baskets from beyond the arc, but it wasn’t quite enough to get past Caldwell, 70-48 in boys’ basketball action Jan. 17 at R.L. Potts Gymnasium.

Eric Dierkes followed with eight markers, while Cole Isaly netted seven points, and Joey Flannery, six points. In addition, Jared Ramsier tallied five points, including a threeball, while Ryan Indermuhle and Jarrett Armann each swished a deuce.

Monroe Central 65,

River 57

Parker Caretti

Dierkes lit up Monroe Central in a makeup game Jan. 18, scoring 21 points against the Seminoles in R.L. Potts Gymnasium. But a 21-5 Monroe Central blitz in the fourth quarter gave the visitors a hard-fought 65-57 victory.

Armann netted 16 markers, while Caretti added a dozen, including a triple. Blaze Amos tacked on six points and Indermuhle hit two points for all the Pilot scoring.

Bridgeport 60, River 51

The Pilots’ Parker Caretti dropped in 20 points, including a trio of baskets from beyond the arc, but it wasn’t quite enough to get past the Bridgeport Bulldogs, who came from behind to win 60-51 Jan. 22 inside John Havlicek Gymnasium in Bridgeport.

Dierkes followed with 11 markers, while Armann and Flannery teamed for 15 points. Indermuhle tacked on five makers, while Curtis swished a triple and Amos drained a deuce.

Fort Frye 49, River 37

OVAC Class 3A front runner Fort Frye used a 18-6 run in the third period and held on for a 49-37 victory over the River Pilots Jan. 24 at R.L.Potts Gymnasium in Hannibal.

Parker Caretti drained a dozen points, including a basket from beyond the arc, to pace the Pilot attack, while Dierkes netted eight points. Ramsier and Indermuhle each recorded five markers, while Flannery chipped in with four points, Amos a deuce, and Armann a charity toss.
