MHS Volleyball Keeps Thriving
The Lady Eagles defeated Union Local in two sets in a tri volleyball match at Skyvue, where they also defeated hosts Monroe Central Sept. 24, 25-19 and 25-17. Magnolia bested Union 25-10 and 25-11.
Against Union’s Lady Jets, Mallory Chapman scored 14 points, six kills and five blocks. Lauren Cline had 10 points, including three aces, and dished out 20 assists and four digs. Standiford contributed six kills, Gibb added seven points and eight digs, while Kelsi Chapman had six digs.
In the match with the Lady Seminoles, Mallory Chapman had eight points and as many kills and added five blocks and nine digs. Standiford killed nine and blocked four, while Kelsi Chapman added eight points and nine digs.
Cline sent in 10 points, assisted in 19 plays and blocked four for Magnolia. Gibb added finished the scoring with four points and 10 digs and Durig had six digs.
The Lady Eagles had split decisions with Williamstown and George Washington in Parkersburg Volleyball Tournament, 25-22 and 22-25 and 25-17 and 24-26, respectively.
Magnolia defeated Parkersburg South in two sets, 25-19 and 25-13 and did the same to the Parkersburg White Team, 25-23 and 25-15. Magnolia also bested Ritchie County 25-12 and 25-13 and was victorious over Williamstown, 25-11 and 25-18.
MHS lost the championship with Parkersburg, 25-4 and 25-12.
