Lady Pilots Sweep Tri Match At Paden City Sept. 30

River swept a tri volleyball match at Paden City Sept. 30, winning 2-0 over both the Lady ‘Cats and Cameron in two sets. Mackenzie Marshall led the scoring against Paden City with 17 points that included two aces. Marshall added seven digs to go along with Amanda Bennett’s 15 points that included two bullets.

Jensen Caretti sent five points and an ace to the scoreboard and added eight kills, five blocks and six digs. Abby Caldwell added four points that included one via service and added two digs.

Mackenzie Wade sent in three points and six digs, while Monica Curtis finished River’s 25-21 and 25-10 set scoring with an ace, eight assists and as many digs. Mikayla Cieszewski threw in a block for River.

The Lady Pilots were 25-8 and 25-9 against the Lady Bulldogs, as Caretti fired off eight points, seven aces, six kills and a dig. Caldwell added 10 points, half of them aces, and three digs.

Marshall kept it up with eight points, three from the service line, and added three kills and seven digs.

Bennett and Wade each contributed seven points, with Bennett’s including three aces. One of Wade’s points was on service. Bailey Caldwell contributed three points, an ace and a dig, while Curtis finished River’s scoring with two points, 12 assists and two digs.

Cieszewski had four kills to go along with four kills from Brielle Wiliams, who also had two digs. Brissa Marshall contributed a dig to River’s victory.

River dropped three matches to Frontier Sept. 26, but won two others, 25-14 and 25-7. Bennett had a team high 21 points that included three aces. She added two kills and five digs. Abby Caldwell was next in the scoring to 19 points and 20 digs.

Curtis and Wade each sent up 15 points with two bullets each. Curtis assisted 27 times and had six digs, while Wade had 19 digs. Marshall’s 14 points included five aces and she also contributed 21 digs. Caretti sent in eight points to go along with 22 kills, five blocks and 14 digs.

Cieszewski had seven kills and two blocks and Williams had two kills and six digs.

The Lady Pilots fell in three sets against Fort Frye Sept. 24, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-23, despite 19 points that included four aces from Bennett. She also had three kills, a block and a dig.

Caretti and Marshall each added nine points. Marshall’s points included one from service and she contributed three kills and 11 digs, while Caretti killed 12 and blocked one and had five digs.

Wade’s stats included five points plus an ace. She also had five digs. Abby Caldwell added seven markers and five digs, while Bailey Caldwell added a dig. Curtis finished River’s scoring with four points that included an ace, 20 assists and seven digs. Cieszewski helped the Lady Pilots with three kills and as many blocks, while Williams had five digs and two kills.

River won 3-1 over Monroe Central in volleyball action Sept. 19, winning three sets 25-11, 25-20 and 25-15 but dropping a set 25-11. Despite the loss, the Lady Pilots appeared to be on their game.

Caretti had a team-high 13 points that included three aces, to which she added 18 kills, six blocks and three digs. Bennett scored eight points plus three aces, three kills and two digs while Marshall sent up nine points, 17 digs and three kills.

Wade contributed seven points and seven digs. Curtis and Caldwell finished River scoring with five points each. Caldwell added 13 digs to the stats and Curtis added three digs and 26 assists. Cieszewski and Williams had five and four kills, respectively, with Cieszewski adding two blocks and Williams adding nine digs.

In a rematch with the Valley Lumberjills Sept. 17, the host Lady Pilots won in three sets, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-18. Thirteen River players scored in the match, with a team high of 19 coming from Bennett. Nine of her points were by aces and she added two kills to the stats.

Caretti had nine kills to go along with her total 13 points, four of them aces. She added two blocks and four digs, while Marshall anted up 10 points that included six bullets. She also contributed a kill and a dig. Curtis sent seven points to the scoreboard and added three digs and 21 assists for the home team.

Wade scored nine points for River, two digs and a kill, and Caldwell added seven points and three digs. Bassett sent up seven points that included two aces and assisted on seven. Cieszewski and Williams combined for 12 kills, with Cieszewski adding a block.

Rachal Baker got in the scoring column with five points and 10 blocks, while Bailea Underwood and Summer Briggs evenly split eight points. Briggs dished up an assist, while Underwood had one dig. Whitney Haught and Sammi Roberts had three points each, with Haught adding an assist and Roberts a dig.

Erin Brown had nine blocks and two digs while scoring a point for River. Cassidy Price completed the Lady Pilot stats with a dig.
