River Wins Sept. 19

River won 3-1 over Monroe Central in volleyball action Sept. 19, winning three sets 25-11, 25-20 and 25-15 but dropping a set 25-11. Despite the loss, the Lady Pilots appeared to be on their game.

Caretti had a team-high 13 points that included three aces, to which she added 18 kills, six blocks and three digs.

Bennett scored eight points plus three aces, three kills and two digs while Marshall sent up nine points, 17 digs and three kills.

Wade contributed seven points and seven digs. Curtis and Caldwell finished River scoring with five points each. Caldwell added 13 digs to the stats and Curtis added three digs and 26 assists. Cieszeski and Williams had five and four kills, respectively, with Cieszeski adding two blocks and Williams adding nine digs.

In a rematch with the Valley Lumberjills Sept. 17, the host Lady Pilots won in three sets, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-18. Thirteen River players scored in the match, with a team high of 19 coming from Bennett. Nine of her points were by aces and she added two kills to the stats.

Caretti had nine kills to go along with her total 13 points, four of them aces. She added two blocks and four digs, while Marshall anted up 10 points that included six bullets. She also contributed a kill and a dig. Curtis sent seven points to the scoreboard and added three digs and 21 assists for the home team.

Wade scored nine points for River, two digs and a kill, and Caldwell added seven points and three digs. Bassett sent up seven points that included two aces and assisted on seven. Cieszeski and Williams combined for 12 kills, with Cieszeski adding a block.

Baker got in the scoring column with five points and 10 blocks, while Underwood and Briggs evenly split eight points. Briggs dished up an assist, while Underwood had one dig. Haught and Roberts had three points each, with Haught adding an assist and Roberts a dig.

Brown had nine blocks and two digs while scoring a point for River. Price completed the Lady Pilot stats with a dig.

River got set back a match Sept. 12 by the Magnolia Lady Eagles, who prevailed 25-19, 25-17 and 25-22 at Hannibal.
