Schools Win In OVAC Golf Championships

The River High School Golf Team scored a 333 to capture the runner-up slot in the OVAC Class 2A golf championships Sept. 10 at Oglebay’s Crispin Center.

Meanwhile, the Paden City Wildcat team turned in a 438 for fifth place in Class 1A.

Individual scores for River were: Jason Miller, 80; Brandon Smith, 81; Blaze Amos, 84; Isaac Curtis, 88; and Ryan Ludolph, 99.

For the Wildcats, its was Levi Meadows, 102; Jake Pierce, 110; Jeremy Mercer, 111; Kennedy Cain, 115; and Dean Frye, 117.

The Weirton Madonna team won its sixth consecutive victory in the Class 1A championship, while Wheeling Central took first place on Class 2A play.

The Blue Eagle Gold Team finished third with a 339 in the OVAC 3A championship tournament Sept. 12 at Oglebay’s Crispin Golf Course. Tyler Consolidated was sixth, scoring a team 369.

Peyton Moore shot a 77, low score for the Magnolia team, followed by Jake Starkey, 83; Shane Mason, 84; and Matthew Durig, 95. Scoring for the Silver Knights were Nathan Kemp, 88; Ty Pratt, 90; Adam Cooper, 95; and John Lancaster, 96.
