Weekley, Hizer Top PC Fun Run

The annual Paden City Labor Day 5K Fun Run was held in Paden City on Labor Day, hosting 67 participants along the flat course through the streets of the city.

Josh Weekley of Doddridge County was the overall winner, finishing in 18:44. The top female finisher was Paden City’s own Kayla Hizer with a time of 24:22.

Awards were presented to the top two male and female finishers in several age divisions:

Male: 15 and under – Hayden Hizer, Deven Price; 16-19 – Dean Frye, Zach Heasley; 20-29 – Jerry Zwick; 30-39 – Dave Schupbach Jr., Brent Cottrill; 40-49 – David Benson, Rodney McWilliams; 50-59 – Don Lane, Scott Mapes; 60-69 – Jack Lane, Bill Hornbrook; 70 and over – Ernie Doll.

Female: 15 and under – Katie Cottrill, Ciara Space; 16-19 – Mallory Estel, Ciera Yoho; 20-29 – Erica Sapp, Rachelle Sapp; 30-39 – Amy Awick, Cassie Cockerham; 40-49 – Angie McDonald, Debra Price; 50-59 – Jeanne Davis, Vicky Cain.

Awards were also presented to: oldest male, Ernie Doll (76); oldest female, Diane Zwick (57); greatest distance travelled to participate, Stephanie Zwick and Jason Zwick of Chesapeake, Va.

The proceeds from this event benefits the Paden City High School track teams.

Organizers of the 5K race extend their appreciation to all participants and volunteers for making this year’s Fun Run a success.
