Missing Out

By Staff | Jun 5, 2013

I’m sorry that I missed the Magnolia Blue Eagles’ Class-A title run in baseball and Cassidy McCullough in the Ohio State Track championships while relaxing in Branson, Mo., on vacation.

I also missed my eldest granddaughter’s ninth birthday, and getting my Relay For Life Softball Tournament ready for June 14-16 as well as the Relay For Life Banquet.

However, my wife needed a vacation with all the stress of being a nurse in a major hospital. And for me, everything coming at me all at once.

However, with the staff at the Wetzel Chronicle chipping in, the Wheeling Intelligencer and Chuck Clegg, my sports pages were completed.

However, I haven’t received too many entries for the softball tournament, although I know people will come through and make it a gala affair.

If you haven’t signed up yet, you still have a few more days to do so. With me out of the office until June 8, I have extended the registration until Monday afternoon, June 10.

If you want to put in a team in the tourney, just send the team registration fee of $25 to the Wetzel Chronicle and give it to our secretary, Diann, along with a telephone number so I can contact you to let you know when your team will play and on what field.

Many thanks to my crew at work and at the Tyler Star News for stepping up and helping me out. Thank you, as well, to the sports department at the Wheeling Intelligencer and to Chuck Clegg for coming through so I can go on vacation.

When I get back, I hope that the Magnolia Boys have won the WVSSAC Class-A Title and that Cassidy McCullough once again has won an Ohio state track title in as many events as she competes in.

In closing, I need to remind our readers about the B&K basketball camp starting on June 11-14 at Paden City High School.

It is a great individual basketball camp that teaches all aspects of the game. It is truly a camp that all basketball players in grades K-8.

Check out the story at right for how to enter your young player.
