Chet Richmond became this year’s first three-time match play winner with a 216-201 victory over Sean Johnson. The victory was worth $75, compliments of weekly sponsor CJ LaRoche Tree Services.

Sean Sawyers was the two-game high qualifier with games of 209, 209 and a 50 handicap for a 468 total. Richmond eliminated Sawyers 182-160 in one semifinal, while Johnson ousted his father, Dave, 204-203 in the other semifinal. Miller Lite and Buddy Light Accounting tournament sponsors guarantee the grand finale top prize of $1,000.

The top 24 bowlers on the point list qualify for the 34th annual match play final, with the top eight bowlers each earning a first round bye.

Richmond took over the point list lead with his victory with 305 points, while Lil Miller dropped to second with 270 points. Sean Johnson rounds out the top three with 200 points.

Eighth annual New Martinsville Men’s and Women’s Association Holiday Mixed Couples Tournament has been scheduled for Dec. 10-11 and Dec. 17-18 at Bruce Lanes.

The event is conducted by the Men’s and Women’s Association and is sponsored by JC Mensore Distributing and Yuengling Lager. The tournament consists of a four-bowler team, two men and two women, on Dec. 10 and 17 and a two-bowler, one man and one women, doubles event on Dec. 11 and 18.
