Bishops Rout Wildcats, 48-8

By Staff | Nov 10, 2011

The 2011 season has come to an end for the Wildcat varsity football team at Paden City, and unfortunately, it has ended on sour note with a 48-8 loss to the Bishops of Bishop Donahue High School at John Marshall.

“Bishop is a good team, and we knew we were going to have a rough tie with them,” said Wildcat Head Coach, Brent Croasman. “Once Taylor went down though, we couldn’t get our running game established.”

Paden City’s only touchdown in the game came courtesy of senior Geoffrey Bidwell.

Offensively, Bidwell was the leading rusher for the Wildcats, gaining 73 yards on 10 carries. Still rushed 11 times for eight yards.

Quarterback Zach Heasley completed 4-12 passes in the game and was intercepted three times for 26 positive yards.

Kennedy Cain had two catches for 19 yards and Peyton Hinkley caught one pass in the contest for five yards.

Defensively, Jay Billiter had 10 tackles in the game. Aaron Higgins was credited with nine tackles; Cain Pyles, seven tackles, one for a loss; Peyton Hinkley, six tackles, one quarterback sack and one fumble recovery; Ben Anderson, one quarterback sack; and James Baker, one interception.

“The kids have done their best this season,” the coach said. “It’s not that they haven’t given everything out there on the field, because they have. We went into the year hoping for better than a three-win season. It just didn’t happen. We played some excellent games and some very good teams,”
