‘Noles Sink Pilots
The River Pilots were held to 111 yards of total offense, while giving up 350 yards to its county rival Monroe Central in a 14-0 loss at Flannery Field Sept. 9.
Jordan Sapp and Austin McConn tallied 37 yards and 25 yards, respectively, on the ground, while Cody Caldwell connected on 5-9 passes for 63 yards. In the meanwhile, Logan Lucas followed with 2-7 passes for 42 yards for all the Pilot offensive output.
Nick Asturi was again on his game defensively, putting away 10 Seminoles in the loss.
It doesn’t get easier for the Pilots as they will head across the Ohio River Friday, Sept. 16 to face the defending WV Class-AA champions Magnolia Blue Eagles, who just won their first game of the season against Tyler Consolidated 44-11. And who will be looking to keep the Pilots from sinking them in the 7:30 p.m. event.
