MHS?Booters Win 9-0

The Eagle goal keeper, Mike Winters, makes a save and starts a fast break downfield with a toss, while defender Chase Croasmun looks on.

After falling to Oak Glen 4-0 in the opener, the Blue Eagle male booters came away with a 0-0 tie against the Silver Knights of Tyler Consolidated Aug. 25 in Middlebourne.

The Blue Eagle defense dominated the first half, holding their rivals to only two shots on goal. In the second half, Mike Winters had the game of his life swatting away seven shot attempts, including one in front of the net with several Knights trying to boot it in.

The Eagles fullbacks, Andrew Stackpole and Chase Croasmun, helped Winters inside the 18 with several nice non-goalie saves. The Knights’ Skylar Kinnard was also impressive, knocking away numerous Eagle booter attempts to score.

The Blue Eagles’ Michael Jones scored five goals and added an assist to help Magnolia gain its first victory of the season against Monroe Central, 9-0, Aug. 27 in Woodsfield.

In the first half, Jones drilled four goals with assists by Evan Heslop, Oscar Celedon, Soren Shade, and one unassisted. In the second half of action, Jones dished one of to Celedon who tickled the twine from 18 yards out for the first goal in the second half. Celedon returned the favor and Jones wasted no time in netting goal number five. Celedon scored his second goal of the game with an assists by Joey Culley. Heslop put one in with an assist from Shade and Croasmun got into the fun with his first goal ever, with assists from Trevor Long.

The Eagles will visit St. Clairsville Sept. 1 and will not have a home game until Sept. 15 against Steubenville, Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
