Young ‘Guns’ Win Paden City Alumni Game
In the Paden City High School Alumni basketball game July 1, the older team raced out to an 8-0 lead, but a pair of three point bombs and a deuce evened the score before the older guys took a two-point lead into the locker room.
During the break, Paden City Alumni girls from as far back as 1969 took their turn on the Bob Burton Gymnasium floor for a free throw competition, where Erica Sapp sank 8-10 to win. Other participants in the contest included Penny Smith Baker, Vicki Yurisko, Holly Sands Jefferys, Miranda Sine Corcoran, Brittany King, Ashley Miller Shockley, and Pam Smittle Billeter.
Following the free throw event, the second half of the game was just as exciting as the first half, with the elder alumni keeping up with the younger grads. However, a shot from beyond the arch by Doug Snider just missed its mark at the buzzer and the young alumni boys won, 52-51, in a barn-burner.
