Tenth Annual Caregivers Triathlon And Duathlon On Tap July 9 At Wheeling Park
Faith in Action Caregivers will hold its tenth annual triathlon and duathlon on July 9 at Wheeling Park. The new race course assures that there will be records set in every competition category. The triathlon begins with a 400 meter swim in the pool at Wheeling Park at 7:30 a.m. The second leg is a 25K bike course.
The race concludes with a 5K run on paved trails and roads in the park. The duathlon will begin at approximately at 7:45 a.m. with a group start. In this event, athletes participate in a 3K run, a 25K bike, and another 5K run.
The Rev. John Brandenburg, Faith in Action Caregivers Board President, said, “We hope that the new venue will attract more participants this year for this fun family event. By participating in the race, everyone has a chance to make a difference in the lives of our elderly and disabled neighbors.”
Participants can enter either race as individuals in age, weight, and gender categories. There also will be competitive categories for individual male and female clergy.
Teams are eligible to participate with each team member completing one leg of the race. Team categories include family, clergy, faith community, several different combined age groups, business, civic/social club, or high school.
Registration received before June 22 will be $60 for individuals, $90 for two person teams, and $100 for three person teams. Participants competing as individuals who are members of USA Triathlon have a registration fee of $50.
After June 22, all registration fees increase by $10. Medals are awarded to everyone who finishes the race and trophies will go to the top three male and female overall winners in each race and the top three in each competition category. All participants get a micro-fiber shirt, a tenth anniversary commemorative visor, and a gift bag.
